"The overriding concern here is Pikuach Nefesh (danger to life)... Here applies the clear psak din of Shulchan Aruch (laws of Shabbos, ch. 329) that if Jews who live near the border are threatened by gentiles, even for something miniscule, they must take weapons even on Shabbos and stop them, so that the gentiles do not penetrate further and try to conquer the land..." The Singing of "Yechi Adoneinu"
